Appanteš
In shadow form, obsessions become chains, holding us, constraining our being. In their light form, they become anchors for channeled curiosity. Appanteš, in ancient Hittite, means "grasped," a word I use to name obsession. Many downfalls of the ancient Anatolian civilizations, and of human journeys, were partly sourced by human obsession. When an idea becomes a constraining need for safety, it grabs the steering wheel, and curiosity turns aggressive and needy. This is another freeze-frame, made to watch my own obsessions. A talisman for the tight grip of obsession, and for the power of pausing to see it for what it is. Loosening the knot, so we can flow freely again.
