Kut hero

Series · 2026 — 2027

Kut

Kut, in Turkish, is ever-flowing universal life energy. It gathers as beings live and move through their trials, and it never stops flowing, moving between everything in this material middle earth.

Kut does not like to be stagnant. It always needs to be flowing.

When we stagnate our flow out of fear, it begins to weigh on us. Kut is produced and multiplied through flow and exchange.

It is also the essence of our being, the stuff of our dreams, our fears, our emotions. I made this series to give form to the kut flowing through my life and through my own journey home.

Anatolia has been a land of sorrow and joy for many millennia. Tešḫa means dream in ancient Hittite.…

Birth, union, victory, celebration of life, and spring, as well as war, loss of land, and loss of loved ones. It has also been a bridge between cultures, a melting pot of beliefs and hope.

I often find myself dreaming what comes next faster than I can conceive it. My soul stirs with ideas and desires so quickly they are hard to tell apart.

Clarity blurs. These are some of my dreams, frozen mid-process.

The seeds of my intuition, caged in a labyrinth of thought and interpretation that forms around the divine channeling. When my pencil flowed over the paper, it felt like sketching a landscape while flying very fast on autopilot.

You have to fly high, like an eagle, so the ground feels slow, almost frozen from that distance.

Ašant, "to be," in Hittite. In our lives we focus on the "to-do" list.…

Living becomes a constant chase down an endless chain of doing. We rarely pause to ask who is doing the doing.

We keep no "to be" list. Our animal body holds ancient wisdom, and often our being is the open channel for the soul and the divine.

Being is organic. Our state of being is the actual flow of Kut, and that is when we operate from home, rather than sleepwalking through this life.

It runs on intuition and love, and it houses dream seeds. A talisman of our divine being, and of the dreams we are here to bring into form.

He'e means octopus in Hawaiian. The octopus is flow.…

It moves through water and through every obstacle it meets, endlessly adaptable, in form and in appearance both. It fills any space and occupies it without attachment, then moves on.

Of all the creatures on this earth, it comes closest to being like water. I sculpted this talisman to be a reminder of non-attachment and adaptability.

Permeability as a virtue.

This one flowed like a sprouting plant as I sketched it. Aṅkura means sprout in Sanskrit.…

It wanted to feel majestic, flourishing. The body of the plant is the channel where the life-giving Kut and earthly waters flow, feeding all that it grows, the leaves, the flowers, the fruit.

A talisman to remind us to keep our channels flowing, so we can grow into what we came here to become.

In shadow form, obsessions become chains, holding us, constraining our being. In their light form, they become anchors for channeled curiosity.…

Appanteš, in ancient Hittite, means "grasped," a word I use to name obsession. Many downfalls of the ancient Anatolian civilizations, and of human journeys, were partly sourced by human obsession.

When an idea becomes a constraining need for safety, it grabs the steering wheel, and curiosity turns aggressive and needy. This is another freeze-frame, made to watch my own obsessions.

A talisman for the tight grip of obsession, and for the power of pausing to see it for what it is. Loosening the knot, so we can flow freely again.
